648. Hibiscus (Karkaday) Lemonade

Hibiscus (الكركديه) can be made into a hot tea infusion or a cold drink.
So to shake thing up from my regular hibiscus drink, I decided to make hibiscus lemonade.
Excellent decision it was, and everyone loved it.

Pour it in a glass with lemon slices and ice cubes, and you've got yourself the drink of the summer (or the drink at the iftar table!).
You can use dried hibiscus, but I used hibiscus tea bags this time. About a quarter cup of dried leaves would equal three tea bags.

Ingredients:

1 cup boiling water
3 cups cold water
3 hibiscus tea bags
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 cup sugar
1 lemons, juice

Method:

In a large jug, mix together the baking soda, tea bags, and hot water and allow to steep for 15 minutes.
Remove the tea bags, squeezing them before discarding.
Add the sugar and stir till dissolved.
Add the remaining cold water.
Add the lemon juice, cover, and refrigerate overnight.
Serve cold.
More lemon juice may be added according to taste.

Salaamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullaahi wa Barakaatuh

I came across your site a few days ago, as I was browsing the mena cooking club site. And I have to say WOW, Allahumma Barik feeki, you are really making awesome dishes for your family. I bookmarked your site right away lol.

So far I tried the Karkaday Lemonade (it really was THE drink at the iftar table lol) and the Potatoe Paprika Roast Chicken (which pleased all the family).

I also read your post about Iraq and what the Shi'is are doing there, may Allah give them what they deserve.

I love you for the Sake of Allah my sister, may Allah accept our fasting and let it weigh on your scales of good deeds on the Day of Judgement.
