1371. Croissant French Toast

Always a hit weekend breakfast, I find myself buying supermarket croissant for the sole purpose of getting them stale for the weekend! No joke, stale overnight croissants are a must for this recipe. Fresh croissant will just render all your efforts into a pushy mess.
These croissant french toasts are perfectly delicious with a sprinkling of powdered sugar. That however should in no way stop you from pulling out all the plugs on any other toppings (nutella, lotus, nut butters, etc).

Ingredients: serves 2

2 croissants, stale
1 egg
1 Tbsp sugar
1/2 cup milk
1/2 tsp vanilla
butter for the pan
toppings of choice

Method:

Slice the croissants horizontally in half.
In a shallow bowl, whisk the egg, sugar, milk, and vanilla until combined.
Melt the butter in a pan set over medium heat. When the butter is melted and just sizzling, dip the croissant slices in the egg on both sides, drain briefly from excess and cook in the pan. Flip when golden after about 2 minutes, and cook 1 minute more on the other side. Depending on the side of your pan, you might have to repeat in batches.
Serve warm with toppings of  choice.
