1421. Colored Burger Buns

These colorful buns are a fun and cute way to present burgers in another interesting way. Even more so if you make them mini. The dough is an enriched bread dough with mashed potato, egg, milk, and some margerine.
Note that the dough is an extremely soft one that is sticky and a small nightmare to work with. With a bit of patience, the soft fluffy result is worth it.

Ingredients:

5 cups flour
50g margerine
2 Tbsp sugar
2 Tbsp honey
2 eggs
2 tsp salt
1 cup milk
1 cup mashed potato
1/2 cup cooled water from boiling the potatoes
2 Tbsp yeast
food coloring
egg wash, for brushing

Method:

Knead all the dough ingredients either by hand or using a machine.
Divide the dough equally into the number of portions you want to dye different colors.
Add the food dye to the portion of dough and knead again to distribute the color.
Place each dough portion in a separate oiled bowl and cover with cling film. Rest for an hour until doubled in size.
Working in portions, scrape the dough into a floured surface and cut into portions of the size you want. Roll into a bun and place on a baking sheet. Brush with egg wash and bake in a preheated 400F oven for 12 minutes. Repeat for the remaining dough.
Allow to cool completely before filling with desired burger combo.
