In all honesty, I got this recipe off social media (again), and made some minor adjustments. In Arab cuisine, we have so many yogurt-based main dishes, so why should pasta be any different? This garlicy yogurt pasta with spiced minced meat has become such a favorite that we have included it in our meal rotations.
Ingredients:
500g fusili pasta
2 cups yoghurt
1 cup lebna
4 cloves grated garlic
1/4 cup water
1 heaped tablespoon ghee
1/4 cup pine nuts
Salt
For the spiced beef:
500g beef mince
1 onion, chopped
1/2 teaspoon Lebanese 7 spice
Salt
Method:
Cook pasta as per packet directions. While the pasta is cooking, make the meat and the yogurt sauce.
Brown the beef and onion in a dry pan. When the water dries out add salt + 7 spice. Set aside on low heat to keep warm.
Whisk the garlic, salt, & water together and add the yoghurt and lebna. Drain pasta and stir into the yoghurt.
Spread the pasta on a platter, top with hot spiced mince & garnish with fried pinenuts and chopped parsley if desired. Serve immediately.
