This is a very popular snack that can also be a breakfast coming from the North Americas and trickling to the rest of the world: fresh apple slices are used like a toast of bread, spread generously with a nut butter (peanut butter is typical, but any nut or seed butter would do), and sprinkled with granola.
Now I love making my own granola as it honestly tastes better and anything I have ever bough, plus I can customize it indefinitely depending on what I feel like having. Instead of granola, you can go the carb-free route and dot the peanut butter with raisins. This not only makes for a fibre and energy rich breakfast, it also make for a great snack for children after school or suhur before fasting.
Ingredients:
Apple
Peanut Butter
Granola
Method:
Slice the apples with-wise about 1 centimeter thick to end up with circular slices.
Remove the core as needed.
Spread generously some peanut butter on one side of the apple slices.
Sprinkle the apple slices with a final touch of granola or dried fruit (raisins?).
To be consumed as soon as ready.
(Do not prepare too far in advance as the apple will brown and get watery.)
