1601. Savory Oatmeal Breakfast Bowl


For some reason oats are frequently used in sweet recipes, and they are just as capable of starring in savory ones. Rice is usually a savory component of a meal, but sweet rice pudding is very popular in may cultures. In this breakfast recipe, we are having savory oats for a change, plus some superfood sides to complement it. 
A fried egg, some sliced ripe avocado, and a simple tomato-onion salsa on the side give off Mexican vibes.




Ingredients: serves 1

1/3 cup oats
2 Tbsp chopped tomato
1 tsp chopped onion
pinch chopped green chili
salt and pepper
olive oil
freshly grated parmesan
a fried egg



Method:

Combine the oats with 2/3 cup water and stir. Either cook stove top on in the microwave until thickened to porridge consistency. Season with salt. At the same time, cook your egg. Separately, combine the chopped tomato, chopped onion, green chili, salt, pepper, and a drizzle of olive oil.
Serve with the oats sprinkled with grated parmesan, and the rest of the sides. Consume while still hot.
