Very few, if any, people don't like Nutella. I think the fact that it was such a staple in our childhood has alot to do with it. It is good in all shapes and forms... smeared over a piece of bread, stuffed in a pancake, or straight out of the jar! Mug cakes are just cakes in a mug.
This particular recipe, which I discovered in this babble blog, is a microwaved chocolate cake cooked in a mug. The actual cooking takes 2 minutes or under, the rest of the five minutes is assembling and mixing the ingredients.
To be honest, this is the first time I make this recipe, and it was not a big hit like I expected it to be.
It promised to be moist, but was too dry to my taste.
The original recipe says this is a single portion recipe, but I got enough for two large mugs.
Make sure the mugs you use are microwave safe!!
Some people might like that though, and it is a fabulous idea, so here it is...
Ingredients:
4 Tbsp flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
4 Tbsp sugar
1 large egg
3 Tbsp cocoa powder
3 Tbsp Nutella
3 Tbsp milk
3 Tbsp oil
Mix all ingredients in a bowl. |
Uncooked batter in the mugs. |
Left: uncooked batter. Right: cooked mug cake. |
Method:
Mix all the ingredients well in a bowl.
Divide batter equally in two microwave-safe mugs.
Cook the cakes one at a time in the microwave on HIGH for 1.5 minutes to 3 minutes.
Consume as is, or topped with (ice)cream.
