This is the sort of canape that is usually served in winter parties. Smoked salmon must be treated with care regarding the temperature of the environment and how long it sits out of the refrigerator because it can cause serious food poisoning. Keeping that in mind, you do not need a special occasion to make this smoked salmon spread.
You can either spread it over the bread and serve, or serve it deconstructed where each person can slather their own.
Ingredients:
300g cream cheese
50g sour cream
2 tsp tobasco
1 Tbsp lemon juice
2 spring onion, finely sliced
2 Tbsp capers, chopped
250g smoked salmon, chopped
3 Tbsp dill, chopped
black pepper
toasted baguette slices, to serve
Method:
Stir all ingredients in a bowl until incorporated. Cover and let sit overnight in the refrigerator to allow the flavors to develop.
Serve with freshly toasted baguette slices.
