This is a breakfast version with smart healthy swaps of the famous banana spit dessert. A banana split is an ice cream dessert where a banana is split in half lengthwise, and three balls of ice cream are put between the halves (traditionally chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry). The lot is topped with copious amounts of whipped cream, chocolate sauce, and strawberry sauce, and a final sprinkling of flaked almonds.
Instead of the ice cream, strained or Greek yogurt is used. Instead of the whipping cream and sauces, fresh berries and honey are added. Instead of the flaked almonds, healthy granola is sprinkled over.
What a gorgeous, filling, and delicious breakfast indeed.
(How to make strained yogurt.)
(How to make granola. Btw, sunflower seeds are the new superfood, and they would work wonders added to the granola recipe.)
Ingredients: (for one)
1 banana
3/4 cup strained yogurt
1/2 cup fresh berries
1/4 cup granola
1 Tbsp honey
Method:
Peel the banana and halve lengthwise. Place the two halves in the serving plate.
Scoop the strained yogurt on the plate between the banana halves.
Top the yogurt with the fresh berries and granola clusters.
Drizzle with honey and serve immediately.
