Sambusak come in all colors and flavors of the rainbow. Some may be tradition, but nowadays, most certainly are not. This is an unconventional cheese and corn version born out of the merge of culture and wide availability of western products in the region.Cheese and corn are not a novel combination. Here they are paired with a generous amount of finely chopped spring onion and a touch of hot chili powder which does not lend heat as much as it enhances the flavor.
Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups canned corn, drained
3 cups shredded cheddar cheese mix
1 tsp chili powder
1 bunch spring onion, finely sliced
sambusak sheets
flour glue, to stick
oil, to fry
Method:
In a bowl, combine the corn, cheese, chili powder, and spring onion well.
Fill your sambusak to the shape you desire, sealing well with flour glue (mix some flour and water to a paste and use it to seal the sambusak).
Can be frozen or fried just before serving.
