I think I see a potential trend on MCW. First, there was the Single Serve Cheese Plate. Then we had the Single Serve Burrata Plate. The smoked salmon single serve plate was bound to follow. Just a point to make: serving single portions does not necessarily have to mean you are serving one person. You can make a small group of people feel special by serving them each a single-serve plate.
So this is my absolute favorite way to eat smoked salmon. Every single component plays an important role in the final product for the ultimate gourmet cold lunch or snack experience. I found that if you layer all the sides on the buttered bread and finish off with the smoked salmon last, eating is much less messy with rarely a component sliding and falling off as you bite.
Ingredients: serves one
2 slices sourdough bread, lightly toasted and buttered
4 thin slices of smoked salmon
2 tsp capers
4-6 slices of lemon (paper thin)
4-6 slices of onion (paper thin)
dill leaves
Place all the individual components on a single-serve platter and serve immediately.
To eat, put the capers on the lightly buttered toasted sourdough bread. Top with the lemon and onion slices, and the dill leaves. Salt to taste. Finish off with the smoked salmon slices to cover the lot.
