85. Rice Crispie Treats

This is a delicious treat for kids (and adults), that was created in the 1920's and continues to bask in popularity. You may find them for sale, but it is a doozy to make them at home and this specific recipe cannot be beat.
It is crispy and gooey at the same time, and you may really get creative with the ingredients (adding m&m's, or peanut butter, or chocolate chips...).
I did mention before that I like children's cookbooks? Well this recipe is from another kid's cookbook, and it really delivers the essence of each recipe.

Ingredients:

120g (1/2 cup) butter
300g toffee caramels
300g marshmallows
300g rice crispies

Method:

Over medium heat, put the butter, toffee caramels, and the marshmallows in a large pot.
Stir continuously until everything is melted and homogeneous, be careful to not let the bottom scorch.
Remove from heat and add the rice crispies, stirring until it is all coated evenly.
Pour the mixture into a large dish or tray and press with the back of a spoon to smooth it out into a large rectangle.
Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
