There's this local bakery that sells these sweet pizzas, naming them Sukaria (سٌكرية).
Their price has more than doubled in the last two years, from a scant 6 Qatari Riyals ($1.65) to its current 15 QR ($4.12), due to its popularity.
I decided to recreate it at home, using a pita or tannur bread.
Note that the tannur bread I use is roughly the size of a dinner plate, with a slight overhang.
The cream cheese I use is Kiri, but I see no problem using Philadelphia instead.
This creamy and ever-so-slightly-salty cheese is topped with grated mozzarella cheese, which will give us a stingy-gooey finale; which in turn is sprinkled with granulated sugar for a sticky-sweet crusty crunch.
Ingredients:
1 large tannur bread
100g cream cheese
100g mozarella, shredded
3 Tbsp sugar
Method:
Preheat oven to 450F, with the rack in the upper third of the oven.
Spread the cream cheese over the surface of the bread.
Distribute the grated mozzarella over the cream cheese.
Sprinkle the sugar over the mozzarella.
Bake for 10 minutes and broil for a few seconds for color.
Consume hot, but still good cold.
