Puff pastry is just the handiest ingredients to have stocked up. It makes for easy and delicious recipes, both sweet and savory. Making your own is surprisingly easy, but of course nothing beats modern convenience where we've got it readily available frozen or refrigerated, already rolled and set to go.
So last week we featured tomato and feta cheese danishes, this time it is an asparagus and brie combination that is even easier, as it requires no pre-cooking. Just assemble and throw in the oven.
1 sheet puff pastry
200g brie cheese
300g baby asparagus
salt and pepper
1 egg
sesame seeds
Method:
Preheat oven to 420F.
Depending on the size of your puff pastry sheet, you may cut six or four squares.
Place slices of brie diagonally on each square, dividing equally between the squares. Lay the asparagus over the brie in the same fashion. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Fold over the two opposite corners to snuggle the filling in the pastry. Brush with egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake in preheated oven for about 20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
