629. Cat Cookies, Tuna Cookies for Cats

I really wish Ghandi had died a Muslim.
Insha Allah he did; no one really knows what's in another's heart but Allah. Well, Ghandi famously said that the greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated. I want every Islamic state to be a great nation. Buying animals as pets is superficial and very ignorant. More often than not, "cute" breeds are inhumanely bred in awful and cruel conditions to attract customers. I wish I had never laid eyes on the septic tank of a live animal market in Bangkok Thailand where animal cruelty is unspeakable. It's so hard to believe that some humans have stooped to a level so low, so merciless, and completely amoral. We do not want the same to be said about Qatar, where unfortunately evidence of animal mistreatment can be seen in our beloved Souq. Please take two minutes to sign this petition HERE to improve the animals' living conditions. Whether you are a resident in Qatar, or a tourist, or not in Qatar at all, please consider adopting a pet from a shelter who is in need of a loving home rather than buying one and financing a cruel and merciless industry. You just might love your pet and make home-made treats, like these tuna cat cookies for cats!

Ingredients:

140g drained canned tuna, no salt added and packed in water
1 cup oats
1 large egg
1 Tbsp olive oil
1 heaping Tbsp dried catnip

Method:

Preheat oven to 350F.
Blitz the oats in the food processor until a flour is formed.
Add all the rest of the ingredients, the drained tuna, egg, olive oil, and catnip and blitz again until smooth, pliable, and not very sticky.
Roll the dough, in batches, into rods, then cut the rod into half-teaspoons' worth of dough.
Form the squares into balls (or not) and use a toothpick to press an X-shape into each cookie ball/square.
Bake in the upper third of the oven for 10 to 12 minutes until they are dried on top and slightly browned.
Allow to cool completely before offering to your kitty.
Place treats in an airtight container and store in the refrigerator for up to seven days.
