This is one of these recipes made for years on end and is an absolute favorite, but is so simple that one forgets its importance to share and does not consider it a recipe. Cheese and herbs go fantastically well together, but certain cheese types and certain herb combinations are extra special.
Almost shamefully, the cheese used here is the ultra-processed jar spreadable cheese. The herb: dill. That's it. Fry it, and you just might dismiss any other sambusak on the table.
Ingredients:
30 sambusak leaves
1/2 cup processed cheese from a jar
1/2 cup chopped fresh dill
oil, to fry
Method:
Smear a sambusak leaf with a teaspoon of the processed cheese from a jar, and sprinkle with a generous pinch of freshly chopped dill. Seal shut with a brush of water.
Fry and serve immediately.
Can also be frozen uncooked and fried directly from frozen.
