Before the utter adulteration and vilification of the concept of wheat, the grain used to be a nutrient dense source for health. Now, flour is bleached (literally) and stripped of all natural nutrient before getting some synthetic additive treatment, causing inflammation and allergies galore. So, what is cream of wheat? Before, it was simply coarsely milled wheat grains cooked into a creamy porridge with milk and topped with honey and butter, much like the British oatmeal we all know. Now, processed cream of wheat packages are available, and are nothing like the original. This is made from scratch, as was intended. Do not mill the wheat too finely otherwise it will be pasty, not creamy.
Ingredients: serves 1
2 Tbsp coarsely milled wheat
1 cup milk
honey and butter, to serve
Method:
In a saucepan, whisk together the milled wheat and milk. Put on the firse and heat slowly until the mixture is a thick pudding. Pour in a serving bowl and immediately top with a pad of butter and honey. Consume while still warm.
