
I have always enjoyed a decent dip, savory or sweet. Lately, I've been making my lighter meals into dips; the options are endless. Crudites with ranch, pea dip with carrot sticks (one of my favorites), strawberries and cream cheese frosting... And now these delicious dates with a saffron ashta.
For aesthetics and presentation variation, I stuffed the dates with the cream. Realistically, I consumed them as a dip, three dates portioned with a small bowl of the cream. It is very important to infuse the cream with the saffron in the refrigerator overnight.
Ingredients:
100g fresh thick cream
pinch saffron
dates
Method:
Using a mortar and pestle, grind the saffron to a powder. Adding a pinch of salt or sugar will help make this easier. Stir the ground saffron in the cream and cover and refrigerate overnight to infuse.
Serve either stuffed in dates or as a side dip to dates. Perfect with some Arabic coffee.
