You know those super-simple recipes that you don't even consider recipes and make them without a thought that someone else might be interested in them? These are often the most the culturally engrained, ones, like the cucumber and salt my father would have as an evening snack. Yogurt and dates is another one. We grew up eating it thoughtlessly, homemade yogurt and either fresh dates if in season or dried ones from back home (looking back, such great blessings!). Seriously and most probably my most nostalgic meal thatI keep going back to time and again. So, America has finally discovered it, and decided to elevate it by adding seared dates (I approve) and olive oil (I do not approve). Sharing the method as it might appeal to some of you readers to try.
Ingredients:
plain yogurt
seared dates
olive oil
Method:
Serve the seared dates over the yogurt and an added drizzle of olive oil.
